John Shearer
Entrepreneur-in-Residence
John is an experienced C-level exec and board member with a history of entrepreneurship and leadership in the communications, enterprise software, AI, wireless power, and network security industries. Over a 40-year career, he has founded and successfully commercialized early-stage research and development projects, including EarlyX Systems, DarkLight, Powercast Corporation, and Information & Graphics Systems.
He currently serves as CEO of EarlyX Systems, a specialized system integrator that identifies and sources breakthrough innovations in the commercial sector for “dual use” purposes in the DoD and other U.S. government agencies. He is also a board member with the The Early X Foundation and advises numerous start-ups including Level 42 AI and MemryX. In his previous role as Professor and EIR at the Graziadio School of Business, his work was instrumental in substantially growing the MBA Entrepreneurship Program at Pepperdine University.
John received degrees in physics and business (M.B.A.) from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has been granted 11 US patents, with additional international granted and pending patents, in the wireless power and energy harvesting fields.
